MTB AAU Basketball

Program Philosophy

MTB’s AAU program provides players a developmental and competitive environment that prioritizes the importance of acquiring and understanding team concepts, while also incorporating a skill development curriculum that is essential for the continued improvement of each individual player.

Through hard work and determination, the MTB coaching staff will teach the values of commitment, selflessness, enthusiasm, confidence, teamwork, respectfulness, and consistent effort. The MTB mission is to develop student athletes’ life skills and to foster a path for personal growth both on and off the court.

Accountability and integrity serve as the foundation of the program’s coaching philosophy. We believe in the importance of creating great habits, and we’ll consistently challenge our players to be the best that they can be. Development is our biggest priority, and will always be valued over winning.

MTB Provides Competitive Teams For Boys And Girls 8-18 Years Old.

MTB’s spring/summer season runs from March through mid-July, and includes eight to ten tournaments, as well as two team practices per week.

The additional fall season runs from August through October, and provides teams with four to six tournaments, or participation in a local fall league.

MTB teams will have tournament schedules that include a combination of local tournaments, as well as travel tournaments such as: Jam On It Memorial Day Tournament (Reno), and Las Vegas West Coast Championship (Las Vegas).

All team rosters will be finalized after player evaluations, which are held in February (spring/summer season) and August (fall season). In addition to a player’s ability, overall commitment to the team will play a role in the decision-making process. The MTB program is recommended for players who have a serious passion for competing and getting better.

MTB Basketball Is Devoted To:

  • Providing young players good habits and a foundation that will prepare them for high school and collegiate basketball.

  • Giving advanced and knowledgeable coaching that stresses the importance of team basketball, while also placing emphasis on learning basketball concepts and the small details of the game.

  • Our coaching staff utilizing basketball as a pathway for personal development; emphasizing the importance of excellence in the classroom, in the community, as well as life in general.

  • Practice Schedule

All teams will practice 3 times per week. 2 of those practices will be inside a gym and focus heavily on individual skill development and team concepts. The 3rd practice will be a group training session that improves players’ physical tools (strength, speed, conditioning). Practice schedules are based upon gym availability, and will be made after the team rosters are finalized.

  • Fundraising

During the spring season and fall season, all players are expected to participate in fundraisers for MTB. As a non-profit and consistently growing program, the purpose of these fundraisers is to assist in giving all players the opportunity to play.

  • Travel Expenses

All costs associated with travel tournaments are to be handled by the players and their families. This includes: transportation, hotel costs, and meals.
